Amiga Infection

As said in our page Origins, , it was the first Ataxx game. It was created by two young English, Dave Crummack and Craig Galley ("Binary Magic").
Two versions have existed :
- the first one, created by Wise Owl Software,
- the second one was created by UK Virgin Mastertronic (with Wise Owl), after buying the first version. There were improvements, but it was not commercially released.
To be played by 2, 3 or 4 players, each one being a human or a computer.

(you find very similar screenshot in our page Spot (Dos). It is an obvious proof of the link between these two games)
The standard rules of Ataxx are already present.

Already sophisticated animations.
There was plasma effect on the squares. Il used the amiga hardware effect display list directly to create the whole screen. No other machine could do it. So, there was not such plasma effect on the other versions of Infection. However it was on the Ataxx Leland, and also on Phage and Globber.

The very first one ! Here !!

In 2000, Craig Galley finds in an old disk the code of the game. He succeeds to migrate it on PC so that it turns on Amiga emulator, such as "Amiga Forever" or "Win UAE". And he agrees to put it in free download on this site! Thanks! Imagine, the first Ataxx (the "Wise Owl" one), this unknown game never commercially released, now available for anybody!
...However, only for anybody having an Amiga "rom", necessary for the emulation, and this "rom" is not free... So I hope that an Amiga player will send some screenshots to put on this page...

Technical informations to use this game.

Two versions to be downloaded:

hwinfection.adf (385 Kb zipped): hardware effects version (with plasma effects on the board)
emuinfection.adf (384 Kb zipped): hardware effects removed to be more emulator friendly

As already said, it needs an emulator (such as WinUAE) and an Amiga "rom".

Some instructions:

Options Screen Right clicking on a quadrant will turn on or off the player left clicking on the icons changes them
Edit Screen Left click to toggle tiles covered-open shake randomizes the tiles
Game Screen Click on the piece you want to move then click where you want to move to, simple.
